Homemade Apple Sauce

This time of year brings us warm feelings of staying inside and cooking something comforting. I have made my own homemade apple sauce and love the results. You can use pretty much any type of apple you want. I happen to like Macintosh apples for this recipe.

  1. 6 Large apples, any type of your choosing
  2. 1/4-1/2 granulated sugar, can also use alternative sugars (Splenda® for example)
  3. 1 tsp. cinnamon, can use pumpkin pie spice for something different
    1. Peel all the apples and cut into cubes. Next, combine the apples and sugar in a pot and turn to medium heat. The sugar will start to melt as the apples release their natural juice. Cook the apples until soft. You can use a potato masher to help breakdown the apples to the desired consistency. Next, add the cinnamon. Taste and you can add more sugar or spice depending on your desired flavor. Enjoy.
